The Story

The name “Helio”, from Greek, Helios (sun), is linked to an ancient tradition of the place, where the Romans used to go to see, as a rite, the rising of the sun from Mount Alban. “Cabala” was added in honor of the Dolce Vita’s historic nightclub. When Frank Sinatra, Anita Ekberg and Ava Gardner were animating the Roman nights, where paparazzi were taking pictures of the quarrel between Richard Burton and Liz Taylor, while Sophia Loren bought a nearby villa.

On Italy ’90 Football World Championship, Grand Hotel Helio Cabala hosted the Italian national football training camp, led by Azeglio Vicini, who in the current Executive Room had organized the “Tactical Room”, where analyzed and developed schemes and strategies that gave life to the beautiful Schillaci and Vialli goals.

In 2006, the structure became part of the Checchi Group Hotels & Resort and, completely restored, finds the splendor of la Dolce Vita, where the savoir vivre class, blends in with a subtle romance.
